Bye Bye Binkies!

Tonight we (mainly me) helped convince Sweet E it was time to say, "Bye-Bye Binkies." We are still paying the price for not taking them away from Mr. C sooner. He has some speech issues that we are pretty sure are linked to him learning to talk with a binkie in his mouth. Anyway, with the birth of a new little baby cousin we decided to tell Sweet E that poor Baby L needed some binkies, and that she was getting too old for binkies and she should share her binkies with Baby L. From the day Baby L was born I have been trying to convince her that that would be the nice thing to do. Today, she FINALLY conceded that maybe she could do it for a price. Like her brother, she has mad bargaining skills. So tomorrow, if she makes it through the night, she gets to go to Target and get a princess toy. However, the knowledge of a princess toy on the horizon doesn't make binkie withdrawal any easier. Tonight as we were prepping for bed, Daddy slipped and gave her a binkie (in his defense he did not know we were SERIOUS this time about NO MORE BINKIES)....anyway that set off a sting of bad events. I sent the boys out and held Sweet E on my lap trying to console her broken spirit. In the process her tears became so bad that she began to start to choke....which resulted in her gagging. She started crying, "no no me not going to throw up!" I calmed her down and tried to sing to her.....but then the gagging started again.....I got up and ran to the bathroom. Once in the bathroom she calmed down again....I picked her up and was hugging her when she decided she would show me how unhappy she was.....she PUKED ALL OVER MY SHOULDER and ARM!! S-I-C-K!!!! I quickly turned her and got a majority of the mess in the toilet. She is in her room crying herself to sleep....the bathroom is disinfected....the laundry is started.....and I feel like a mean mom!! But it is for her good. However, it is a little bittersweet.....her binkie was one of the last "baby" things that kept her in the "baby" category. Next up is potty training....I think we may need to give it a week before we spring that one on her. It is a sad day....for the first time in over 4 years we don't have a baby drifting off to sleep with the aid of a binkie....sniff, sniff, sniff. My little girl is growing up!

PS. I almost forgot when Sweet E was in the bathroom making her mess, Mr.C came in and looked at her and said, "I'm going to throw up!!" I quickly told him to go get back in bed.....I can just imagine the mess I could have had....because if you remember Mr.C is my special child that can throw up on command. Yeah I know.....he is talented....I am SO lucky!! Thank heavens tonight was only 98% chaos not....100%!! So much for getting to sit down and watch a show, motherhood is so TOTALLY AWESOME sometimes!! :-)

New Little Cousin

This last week Aunt E had her little baby girl, our new cousin Baby L. We are so excited to have a new little cousin and niece. We can not wait to meet her in person! Sweet E is particularly keen on getting her grubby little hands on Baby L. We wish we lived closer to all of our cute little cousins (or nieces and nephews)! But for now we look at cute pictures, talk on the phone and web-cam (when ours works). It is amazing how much you can love one little baby that you have never even met!! Congrats Aunt E and Uncle M on the cute addition to the family! And congrats to cousin B and cousin A on their new little baby sister! She is a doll!!

Poppy's Pool Party

Big B's dad was cleaning out their pool the other day and invited the kiddos to come and splash around while he was filling it back up! The kids had a blast! It was just the right height for them to walk around and feel comfortable. It was the perfect way to cool off after a HOT day! Thanks Poppy for the fun pool party! Sweet E and Mr. C had a BLAST!

First Day of School!

I thought that this was going to be our first year without a "first" day of school....then I remembered that Mr. C was starting school! Mr. C goes to his new preschool 3 days a week. He is learning a lot, and we could not be happier. He has two wonderful teachers, and he is happy as a clam! He receives speech services 2 days a week while he is there. We are hoping that this will help him get ready for kindergarten next year....time will only tell. I still can not get over how old he is getting! Where has time gone?? My baby is all grown up!

Fun with Hair

So anyone who has been around Sweet E for any period of time knows that I am always experimenting with hair-dos. I look at blogs, I look at other kids hair-dos and try to figure out how they did it and if it is something I can do with Sweet-E's hair. It has become something of a hobby for me. It makes me happy to look at the finished project (most of the time). I usually have to bribe Sweet E to sit still long enough. Who knows how long she will put up with me and my crazy ideas...but for right now I am having fun being a momma of a little girl! I know there is still a lot I can learn, and more hair-dos to try. If you know any good ideas, or sites let me know!

Dancing Queen

Sweet E started dance classes this last week. She was a little hesitant at first but had tons of fun! She has been practicing all of her little moves ever since. Her teacher said that she is a "natural ballerina"! Who knows, but she is having fun and that is what matters. She has always LOVED to dance. When she was little, before she could stand, she would bounce up and down on her bottom to music. Her favorite song as a baby was, "Jesus Says Love Everyone." Now days you can CONSTANTLY find her singing, or dancing. She is such a sweet girlie girl. She is growing up way too fast!!
