Another Grocery Store Adventure

Sweet E has continued to do well with potty training. The other day we received a coupon for a free candy bar in the mail. I used the candy bar as an incentive for Mr. C to do all of his "chores" (clean up all of his toys, help vacuum, eat all his dinner, help clean up table and dishes, etc.) Mr. C was more than happy to help given the opportunity to get a candy bar. Anyway, Sweet E was a little bummed so I told her she could have the same deal....but she had to continue to do well going to the bathroom. Well the kiddos lived up to their end of the deal.....so after dinner we headed to the grocery store so that they could cash in on their coupon. Mr. C and Sweet E were well ahead of us and already on the candy isle. When I turned the corner to head down the isle there stood Sweet E in her Minnie Mouse underwear....her skirt was around her ankles....and Mr. C, being the good brother he is, was pointing laughing at her hysterically! Since making the switch to underwear Sweet E has lost some inches in her hips....making it more difficult for her to keep her pants up! Poor Sweet E was embarrassed and said, "My skirt too big it fall down!" I quickly fixed Sweet E's little wardrobe malfunction, and then had Big B carry her on his shoulders the remaining time we were in to store so that we would not have another wardrobe malfunction. Sweet E is pretty tall for her age....lengthwise she needs 3T clothing....waist wise she would probably be fine with 2T....so I guess I need to head to the store and find some cute belts. We would hate for Sweet E to have problems with modesty at such a young age!!

Double the Fun

The other day I had to brave the grocery store with the two yahoos. I needed something so I could make dinner....and there was no way to get around it. I typically try to AVOID taking both the kids to grocery stores by myself. Mr. C is to the age where ridding in the cart is just plain un-cool, but he has yet to master the not running away part yet either. However, I must say he is getting better and if it is just the two of us he is totally manageable. The problem with giving Mr.C a little independence is Sweet E thinks she is entitled to such privileges, and she is TOTALLY not ready for that. But to be fair when it is just the two of us and we are running into a store for something quick I sometimes let her walk....but I usually end up regretting it. Anyway, knowing that there was no way dinner would get finished on time I decided to be brave and take both the kids into the grocery store. I made Sweet E sit in the cart and Mr. C walked. However, once we entered the door and Mr.C saw the new display of pumpkins all hopes of an easy trip flew out the window. Sweet E stood up and started to straddle the edge of the cart trying to bail. I finally just took her out and let them look at the pumpkins. I then bribed the kids that if they could be good while I picked up a few things that they could pick out a doughnut with Halloween sprinkles. They tried to behave, but all of the Halloween stuff was causing them to get worked up in a tizzy! On two different occasions people asked me if they were twins, when I said no they said "oh are they close in age" when I responded that they are 2 years apart they seemed shocked. I must have looked like I had my hand full.....which I am sure I did....we were having our own little 3 ring circus right in the middle of the produce section. Then there was a grandma lady who was dying LAUGHING at us as I was trying to rush over to stop the blood pressure machine from cutting off all circulation to Mr.C's arm as Sweet E was trying to play escape artist again. It was a NIGHTMARE....but we survived. Next time I think we will just have Mac' and Cheese for dinner !!

More Hair

I saw this hair do on a blog and decided to try it out. It was super simple....and I think it turned out cute. I am glad Sweet E is willing to let me experiment on her hair. I have fun! One of my sisters wants to know what Sweet E's hair looks like when it is down since I have had it pulled up all summer....I guess now that it is 'supposed' to start cooling off we will have to find some new hair do's that allow her to wear her hair down too! If you ever come across any ideas pass them this way....we are always looking for new ideas!

Pipe Dreams

So I have to share this real quick....I had just gotten ready for bed and was checking my e-mails one last time as Big B was brushing his teeth and getting ready for bed. I heard the toilet flush....then from the other room I hear Sweet E say in a loud voice, "Yeah Sweet E!" I went and checked on her.....she was sound asleep...she has been asleep for a few hours. Do you think she is dreaming of her potty success today??! Whenever she would go potty the whole family would go "Yeah Emma!!" Big B and I thought it was pretty funny....poor kid is dreaming about being potty trained! I guess she is pretty proud of herself!

Bye Bye Baby

So today was the day to say "Bye Bye Diapers" for Sweet E. This morning we told her that it was time for her to start being a big girl, and that she was going to start wearing her princess underwear. She was a little reluctant but gave in. She had one accident this morning....but has gone in the toilet ever since. Every time she sits on the toilet she gets a skittle....which she thinks is GREAT!! Then she realized she could have a little piece of a brownie when she actually 'went' in the toilet. Man oh man she will do anything for a little snippet of brownie. So after she went the first time and saw our excitement and tasted her sweet treat the rest has been easy. She is SO EXCITED to use the potty. She has even gone number 2 on the toilet twice....all on her own. I hope she keeps that up...because that part was a NIGHTMARE with Mr. C. Anyway, it is still early in the process...but I hope she continues to be this easy! The bummer is I just bought a new case of diapers last week!

On a side note...while life will be a lot cheaper, and less NASTY without diapers it will be a little bitter sweet to know that we no longer have a baby in our house :-( and what am I going to do now that I don't have to lug a diaper bag all around??

Birthday Card Artist

So we have a little bit of a problem here. You see it is kind of a tradition in my family to get my Dad goofy cards....or as he would call them "car wash cards." Well for someones B-day recently we purchased the card above....it may be hard to see....it is titled "Red Necks On Saturday Nights." The guy on top of the car is saying, "Here's your moon roof, Earl!" Obviously you can see the dude has his pants down sitting on top of the truck. When I saw this card I died laughing and had to buy it for a certain person. However, I failed to think about the effects such a card would have. Mr. C got sight of the card and thought it was hilariously, "NASTY!!" Now for everyone's B-days he wants to buy them a "NASTY" card. Since I have refused to buy "NASTY" cards....especially after I saw how he reacted to them....he started to draw his own version of the card above. The first time he did it was in sacrament meeting last week.....then again later in the week for me so I would feel "happy".....then he drew one for Mimi. Unfortunately he is getting to be a pretty good artist....unfortunately he is not that great so his picture can be misinterpreted to be even NASTIER! He has gotten into some serious trouble.....but he still thinks it is SO FUNNY! I have tried to stop him, now I am just taking bets how long it will be before Mr. C pulls this at school....and I get called in for yet another parent teacher conference. Any takers?? If this doesn't get me nominated for Mother of The Year I don't know what will!!

Oh and if this effects your betting....it is "Artist"week at school....and Mr. C has officially proclaimed himself the "BEST" artist!

uhh....I think I am going to go try to find a good cave to hide in again....

And for the record.....NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO BUY ANY CARDS WITH ANYTHING BUT A CUTE DOG,CAT , OR LANDSCAPE ON THE FRONT FOR THE FAMILY PARTIES....THAT INCLUDES YOU POPS!!
